Job Title: Solar Mechanical Foreman
Reports To: Superintendent, Senior Superintendent
Location: California
Coordination: Field Management

Summary Of Role

Supervise and coordinate solar mechanical installation teams associates with commercial project priorities and schedules. Inspect, examine, and test solar systems, equipment, necessary to successfully complete solar rooftop and canopy installations on schedule. Coordinate and collaborate with the projects and electrical teams as necessary for delivery of efficient project timelines. Manage day to day needs of all PV Technicians on your team in and organized fashion for individual and team accountability to meet safety and reporting standards. 

Sustineo Solar Foreman positions for large commercial projects must demonstrate self-performing mechanical work, including bending pipe, laying pipe, laying glass and wire management.  This position is a field position supervising installation crews, assigned to photovoltaic specialties throughout California and requires regular travel. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise labor management of mechanical trade personnel
  • Handle material management.
  • Perform efficient tool and material management.
  • Schedules day-to-day work within project master schedule.
  • Oversees Subcontractor trade scheduling.
  • Performs job walks and estimating feedback to support change estimates, and project change orders.
  • Ensures key mechanical work milestones/deliverables are met.
  • Performs Foreman related duties on a phase-by-phase (site specific) basis.
  • Ensures safe practices and support and comply with OSHA standards.
  • Supports and complies with Sustineo employee policies, including confidentiality and safety programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Field safety management; construction site orientation
  • Ability to travel and manage California sites
  • Full use of sight, hearing and voice are required as well as full motor skills
  • Requires standing, climbing, stretching, bending, and working under raised floors. As well as the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Exemplary communication and management skills
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platform
  • Rigging, Aerial Lifts
  • Safe working practices
  • Time Management skills
  • Project Planning and paperless technical abilities
  • Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, fast paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Utilize current technology on an iPad
  • Manage team PPE safety gear
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license

Education and Experience

  • 7-10 Year of experience of Solar Installation
  • OSHA 30 certification required (30 preferred)
  • Specialized courses of Lifts, Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Rigging and CPR/First Aide
  • 5+ years of experience in the mechanical trades with specialty
  • 5+ years of experience in the commercial solar construction
  • 5+ years of experience managing solar installation crews
